Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir's spat began during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gambhir's Kolkata Knight Riders in 2013.
During the match, Kohli, who was captaining the Royal Challengers Bangalore, was dismissed by Knight Riders' pacer, Lakshmipathy Balaji. Gambhir, who was the Knight Riders' captain at that time, allegedly made a comment directed towards Kohli, which irked him.
Later in the match, when Gambhir was batting, Kohli, who was fielding, apparently abused Gambhir, and the two players got into a heated argument. The incident resulted in a lot of controversy and media attention, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to intervene to resolve the matter.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a long-standing personal rivalry between Kohli and Gambhir, who had previously had several run-ins on and off the field. However, both players have since moved on and played together for the Indian team.
